WAR TIME

A group of Cholsey's Air Raid Precautions volunteers. Mr. Wilmott (seated, centre) was in charge. The house behind is believed to be Cardynham, in Papist Way.

Studio portrait of Sapper A.F. Bosher on postcard. We believe Sapr. Bosher and his unit were billeted at the Brentford Tailor while on a training exercise. There are other portraits of soldiers from this episode.

Cholsey Auxiliary Fire Brigade during WW2: taken in Brett's yard, Honey Lane.

Doreen Ebsworth's Certificate of Merit for attending church during flooding in 1940. It was signed by Revd Edward Clarendon Hyde, vicar from 1931 to 1940.

A very young-looking boy bugler, G. Sparrow of No 1 Company, 5th Gloster Regt. He was apparently one of a number of soldiers billeted at The Brentford Tailor, 1914-15. From the collection of the late Lionel Baldwin, a great source of local history.
